The following are questions asked by a Newfoundland company.
1. Would a foreign worker be covered by medical insurance if he/she was to get sick in NL?
2. Who purchases the medical insurance? Is it the responsibility of the employer? Or does it come out of the employee’s pocket?
3. What would happen if a foreign worker was involved in criminal activity during his/her time of work in Newfoundland and Labrador? Either on the job or outside of the job – who would be responsible for legal costs? What is the procedure with this?
4. What would happen if a foreign worker was killed during his/her time in NL?
5. What would happen if a foreign worker happened to get injured during his/her stay, but it wasn’t a workers compensation claim? For example, if he/she broke their leg outside of work.
