About The 6th Annual Diversity Symposium
The Association for New Canadians (ANC) is hosting its sixth-annual Diversity Symposium on May 7th at Clovelly Golf Course. The event aims to bring together the Newfoundland and Labrador business community to discuss the dynamics of multiculturalism on our changing economy.
The keynote speaker for this year’s event is Ken Marshall, President-Atlantic Region, Rogers Communications Inc.
Ken has been with Rogers (and formerly Cable Atlantic) for 24 years and previously worked in Montreal with The Institute of Canadian Bankers. He holds an MBA from Dalhousie University and a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) from Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador.
Ken is the Chair of the Board of Directors of Nalcor Energy, (Canada’s 4th largest generator of electricity) Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro, and subsidiary companies; and served on the Board of the Atlantic Provinces Economic Council.
Being a big believer in community involvement, Ken is a long time serving Board Member and Past Chair for Special Olympics, Newfoundland and Labrador. He has just finished one term as an Alumni Representative Member for the Board of Regents of Memorial University of Newfoundland and also chaired JUNO 2010 in St. John’s, the nation’s celebration of Canadian music. Ken has been named one of Atlantic Business Magazines Top 50 CEO’s.
The two-hour forum will also include a panel discussion featuring Sharon Horan, President, St. John’s Board of Trade; and Deidre Ayre, Studio Head and Director, Other Ocean Group Canada Ltd. Dr. Rob Greenwood, Executive Director, Public Engagement, Leslie Harris Centre of Regional Policy Development will moderate the session.
